Milling inserts can be used in different machining conditions, such as dry cutting, wet cutting, high-speed cutting, heavy-duty cutting and so on. In dry cutting, milling inserts can reduce the use of cutting fluid, reduce processing costs, but also conducive to environmental protection. In wet cutting, cutting fluid can play the role of cooling, lubrication and chip removal, improving machining quality and tool life.
For different machining requirements, such as roughing, semi-finishing and finishing, milling inserts can also be satisfied by choosing different insert materials and geometries. For example, in roughing, insert materials with higher hardness and better wear resistance can be selected to improve tool life; in finishing, sharp cutting edges and lower cutting forces can be selected to ensure machining accuracy and surface quality.
